If you're not aware Porsche is set to release an all-electric version of the Macan in late 2024. The Macan EV will be the first all-electric Porsche SUV. While the car is not yet available for order, the official Porsche website now has a configurator ready for the Macan EV. We take a look at the Porsche Macan EV price from the official Porsche Car Configurator here in Australia.
Given the cornucopia of options available with Porsche cars in general, you'll be likely also optioning your Porsche Macan EV with a few extras and that's where the configurator price comes in. It's all good and dandy to know the base price of the Macan EV but what about the price of the car after options? That's where we come in.
Now starting with the base configuration for Macan 4, the price starts at $150,600 driveaway. For the purpose of this article our driveway state is Victoria. If you are based in other Australian states you'll need to put your postcode as rego cost + CTP does vary. The Macan Turbo meanwhile, starts at $198,949 driveaway. Electric Macan and Macan Turbo Specs
For your info, the Macan 4 comes with a 95 kWh battery and a range of 615 km. The Macan 4 has a 0-100 km/h time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 218 km/h. The Macan 4 has a power output of up to 300 kW and a torque of 650 Nm.1
The Macan Turbo comes with the same 95 kWh battery and a shorter range of 590 km. The Macan Turbo has a 0-100 km/h time of 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 260 km/h. The Macan Turbo has a power output of 470 kW and a torque of 1130 Nm.2
Just for comparison even the "base" Macan 4 with 300 kW is more powerful than the current generation Macan S which has a power output of 250 kW and a torque of 460 Nm. The Macan 4 is also more powerful than the current Macan GTS which has a power output of 265 kW and a torque of 500 Nm. Lastly, compared to its older sibling the Taycan, Macan 4 has greater range than the base Taycan which has a range of 414 km.
Macan 4 with options - Colour and Wheels
For starters we have selected the configuration to start from "basic configuration", meaning no options at all other than the standard options pre-selected by the configuration. You can configure your Macan 4 with preconfigured options but for our purpose let's just start from scratch and imagine our ideal Macan EV step by step. (You can also switch to Macan Turbo if you want to see the price of the Macan Turbo with options)
When choosing the options our ideal Macan is to have something that is sporty, unique but not too over the top. We also want to have our Macan to have the standard prestige car features such as leather seats, heated seats, adaptive suspension, and a few other options. The last thing we want is to spend a hundred grand on a car and not have the basic features that we expect from a prestige car in 2024.
The first option we selected is the exterior colour. The standard colour is white and we decided to go with this standard colour. (Brave we know...) There's just something about white that makes the car look sporty and clean. As with other Porsche cars, there are tons of other colours to choose from. From the standard solid colours such as black to the more expensive metallic colours such as dolomite silver metallic ($1,800), gentian blue metallic ($2,880), and oak green metallic ($5,470).
The next option we selected is the wheels. The standard wheels are 20-inch Macan wheels painted in black which to be honest looks quite decent if not stockish given it has only few spokes.. Because of that we've selected the 21-inch Macan Exclusive Design wheels in black. This option costs a whooping $3,960. But it does make the car look significantly better in our opinion compared to the stock wheel.
Lastly, one of our pet peeve with Porsche wheel is it doesn't come with a coloured Porsche crest. Yes, so we selected the option to have the Porsche crest in colour. This option costs $300 but we believe it's a must!
Seat & Interior Options
Moving on to the interior we selected a black leather package. Unfortunately the base Macan 4 doesn't come with leather interior as standard. The black leather package costs $2,920... yet you could still get extensive leather option which costs a whooping $6,820 or the ultimate club leather option which costs $7,960. For our purpose the black leather package seems to be more than adequate. We contemplated choosing black and bordeaux red but it seems to be a bit too much.
Now let's go to the seats, the place where we spend the most time in the car. The standard seats are 8-way electrically adjustable seats with memory package which we think is already quite decent. However, the trap is the standard seats are not heated nor its ventilated! So we've selected the option to have heated seats. This option costs $790. You could opt for message function including all ventilation but that will cost you $2,860.
Outside of the seats and interior material there are tons of other options to choose from, interior wise. From normal standard option such as having a panoramic roof, that we omitted, to something more unique such as having an illuminated Porsche logo on front seats or seat belts in bordeaux red. You could even get a personalised floor mats and personalised folder for your Macan paperwork in leather!! The latter costs $720. We recommend you have a closer look here and see what you like.
In our case we've decided to go with modest selection of options but nonetheless still valuable, namely: pedal pads in stainless steel (that to be honest should be standard for a car of this calibre) for $230 and a heated multifunction GT sports steering wheel in leather for $1,340. We decided specifically to not get panoramic roof system for $3,110 as we think it's not worth it, we rather use the money for powertrain and performance options.
Exterior Options
Exterior wise Porsche offers buyers with tons of options to choose from including having exterior mirrors and other plastic trims painted to something practical such as a complete tow bar system. For our purpose we have decided to go with the standard exterior package and trims. We also ignored the option to have a Porsche logo projected on the ground when you open the door... (That will cost you $540 if you're interested)
Powertrain & performance
Given the Macan is an EV, there's clearly no manual option. (Maybe not yet) The car comes standard with a single speed transmission. But the usual Porsche options are available such as the Sport Chrono Package and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). The latter comes with a true adaptive air suspension with levelling system and multi height adjustment.
This is where it gets interesting and we expect if you want to have a sporty Macan then you'll spend sometime pondering whether it's worth having the Sport Chrono Package or the PASM or both. The Sport Chrono Package costs $1,540 while the PASM costs $2,830.
Overall given our original intention to have a sporty Macan we've selected both the Sport Chrono Package and the PASM. We believe it's what going to differentiate our Macan from other SUVs or EVs. However we have to say that if you're just looking for a family car then you could probably skip both options as they are not cheap.
If you don't want your dashboard to be empty the Compass option is a good alternative and it costs $700 in comparison with pricier Sport Chrono Package.
Lights and Vision
Porsche offers a standard LED headlights with the Macan 4 however Porsche offers buyers with several LED matrix options with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus). The standard LED headlights are already quite decent in our opinion so we didn't select any of the LED matrix options.
However there is one option we selected from this section which we think is quite important and very good value for a car like EV Macan. The option is thermally and noise insulated glass. This option costs $1,910. We believe this option is important to have as it will make the car quieter and more comfortable to drive given we have 1) selected a high profile 21-inch wheels, 2) we have selected the PASM which will make the car stiffer, and lastly 3) Macan is an EV so any road noise will be more noticeable, therefore the need for noise insulated glass.
The last thing we want is to have a car that is noisy and uncomfortable to drive especially at this level of luxury and price point. We have heard a lot of NVH complaints from other EV brands and we don't want to have the same issue with our Macan.
Comfort & Infotainment
The last section we have is the comfort and infotainment section. In this case we believe Porsche has done a good job in providing the standard features that we expect from a prestige car. The standard features include a 12.6-inch touchscreen display, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, and a 10-speaker sound system.
However having said that there's one option that we think is a must have and that is the Bose Surround Sound System. If you & your family likes to enjoy music while driving then this option is a must. This option costs $2,230. This option is makes even more sense if you have selected for the thermally and noise insulated glass option given the car will be quieter and you'll be able to crank up the volume without worrying about intrusive road noise.
On the other hand one option that we think is not worth it is the Burmester High-End Surround Sound System. This option costs $8,970 which is just up there in terms of price of all options. We think the Bose option is more than adequate given existing experience with Bose sound system in Porsche and other cars.
The other option which you could consider but we are pretty disappointed with is the augmented reality Head-up Display (HUD). We think this option is not worth it given the price of $4,120 but at the same time most cars these days have HUD as standard, even the new Mazda 3 has it as standard. For Porsche to charge $4,120 for this option is just a bit questionable. The other aspect is the HUD will also make the driver dashboard taller. We think this is something we have to take closer look at when the car is released.

Everything adds up to a total of $18,050. The total price of our Macan 4 with options is $169,406 driveaway, compared to the base price of $150,600 driveaway that doesn't come with any options. This is still lower than the price of the Macan Turbo which starts at $198,949 driveaway.
(Please note this driveway price is calculated at the time of writing with postcode 3000, Melbourne Victoria. If you're in other states the onroad cost that includes rego and CTP will be different. The final price could also change when the car is released. It's best to confirm with your local Porsche dealer.)
If you're interested to see the price of the Macan Turbo with options, you can switch to the Macan Turbo in the configurator and see the price of the Macan Turbo with options. You could expect to see a ballpark figure of around $220,000 driveaway with options.
In general the expected cost of options for the Macan 4 is around $15,000 to $20,000. However as you can see from our configuration you could easily spend more than $20,000 on options if you opt for more expensive options such as the HUD, Burmester sound system, or just simply go crazy with the leather and metallic paint options.
Tell us in the comments below what options you would choose for your Macan EV, or contact us if you have any questions. (Feel free to also roast our options selection...)
